Scenario Pubblico starts its activities in 2002. Located near the historic center of Catania, accessible from the pedestrian street that leads to the Teatro Massimo Vincenzo Bellini, the city’s Opera House, Roberto Zappalà is the creator and promoter of its recovery.
A structure from the early 1900s purchased thanks to the intervention of private individuals and renovated with European funds, designed for contemporary dance, a rare example in Italy of a European choreographic center that soon became a reference point for dance in Central -Southern Italy.
The structure is divided into a state of the art black box theater with 150 seats, two large rehearsal rooms, a laboratory equipped for scenography and videodance, a bar / restaurant, offices, a video archive and a guesthouse. The main focus is placed on contemporary dance and within it activities of production, programming, hospitality, training and dissemination are developed.
